The new Czar began drafting for the russian army, so in 1904 they left.Finally in 1909 they arrived on New Years Eve at Ellis Island.Unfortunately, Salomon ,her husband, was kept at Ellis Island because he had an eye infection (They didn't want any new sicknesses or diseases in the U.S.). A long time later, they let Salomon go because they felt sorry for Katherine and her 10 children (She actually had 11 but one died earlier).They sold nearly all of their belongings and moved to North Dakota where they took up farming.

Eventually, his mother died and his father remarried.But back then if your father remarried you were disinherited and all the father’s property would go to his stepmother.So he and his siblings went over to the U.S. leaving from Bremen Germany, when he was 12.Once they arrived at Ellis Island they weren’t allowed through because Stanley had a broken elbow.So instead they went through Baltimore.After that they moved to New Jersey, and then took up farming just like my fathers side. He could possibly ha a sister named Fernanda Piotrowswho went through ellis island She may have left on the Boat called the America.
